True Power DOHC

When Joe Anahory & Joe Schubeck teamed to design a DOHC “nitro” motor as a superior alternative to the hemi in the mid-80’s… Tim Grose was one of the highest ranked Funny Car Owner/Driver’s in both NHRA/IHRA competition. 1985, marked the 5th year that Tim had WON both 3 Nationals & 90% of his Match Races with the same aluminum block! Tim had casually read of this new DOHC engine design in a couple publications soon after retiring this block dubbed “old thumper”. “Thumper had become senile and the sleeves would slide in and out with one finger” said Grose. He replaced Thumper with a new JP-1 block (transferring all its componentry) at the Keystone Nationals which he summarily WON…but ironically, “valvetrain” failure at the finish line in beating Kenny Bernstein caused a massive blower explosion. Four months later, he WON the Winternationals without hurting a part. Like many, Tim was greatly intrigued and impressed with the DOHC’s cutting edge hi-tech “CAD” design. But, 4 cams versus 1, 32 valves versus 16, looked way too involved and many perceived it would be a nightmare to work on (between 90 minute rounds). More notable, was the fact that the hemi was far from being max’d out.  With the Eagle DOHC technology being way ahead of its time…it faded out of sight…out of mind!

Four years after Grose ceased racing in 1991, he was reintroduced and challenged to be the FIRST to prove Joe’s "Eagle" in a nitromethane fueled combo. Tim had little interest to return to active racing. However, a formidable challenge of this magnitude appealed to him BIG TIME! Tim assumed the challenge and built a Funny Car around this DOHC powerplant. When poised and ready to go to the track in late ’96…2 of his former cohorts (who were obviously threatened) had the new NHRA regime legislate DOHC motors illegal overnight. While this was a nearly catastrophic setback, Tim regrouped and scraped up enough of a budget to allow him to test/prove this DOHC power in ‘99/2000. It performed way beyond everybody’s expectations (even Tim’s)…showing virtually zero limitations for power and longevity. From day one of laying his hands on this beast, he always saw enormous potential for this power in the boating industry. With the nations most respected leaders in motorsport component manufacturing aboard, they helped Tim develop an "offshore marine" combination that now threatens the "status quo" engine builders in that industry. Fortunately, they don’t have the clout of Tim’s former drag buddies and its now going to become available to the World market.
